Acrylic on Canvas
20” by 10” (50.8 cm by 25.4 cm)

Inspired by Ernst Herzfeld’s sketches of patterns he observed in a doorframe in Lower Maqam Ibrahim Mosque during his travels through Aleppo a century ago.

The same region he traveled through has been devastated by war, and most recently, massive earthquakes that have crippled an already reeling population.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake and the aftershocks and tremors that followed have killed over 47,000 people, and that number continues to grow.

This is a region where even before the earthquake, had 6.5 million children in need of humanitarian aid.

This piece is for sale on my website, with all proceeds going to earthquake relief efforts in Syria.
