Like her father, Malala was an advocate for the right of girls to receive equal education in Pakistan. Her advocacy made her the target of an assassination attempt by the Taliban, where she and two other girls were shot. After miraculously recovering from her wounds, she has graduated from Oxford, became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient, and started the Malala Fund , where she now continues to advocate for female education on a global scale.
Part of a series of portraits highlighting women who have survived and endured extreme trauma, who then dedicated their lives to preventing such events from happening to others.
