Acrylic on Canvas 15” by 30”
On the left, tile work patterns from the King Hassan II Mosque in Morocco.
On the right, a pattern taken from the walls of the Pink Mosque in Iran.
Each are prime examples of the style of Islamic art from their regions. The sharp geometric patterns of The King Hassan II highlight the North African style perfected in Morocco, but seen in many mosques throughout the world. The pink mosque tiles utilize floral patterns and bright, bold colors that are the signature style of Persian Islamic architecture.
This piece shows how similar both styles are, while highlighting how special their differences are. In my opinion, their unique beauty is only matched by how beautiful they look together.
