Back To Portraits of Palestine>
It’s easy for us to all assume that if we had the massive platform to that Bella Hadid has, we would all speak up for Palestine and risk everything. Maybe we would, maybe we wouldn’t, but it doesn’t make what Bella does any less courageous or admirable, especially in the industry she’s in. She could easily remain silent, but she continues to wear her father’s home proudly on her sleeve. She honors her grandmother and her people, and is true Palestinian royalty (seriously, look it up).
There are others like her, that have suffered massive consequences, like Anwar el Ghazi, who had his contract terminated by Genocide sympathizers FC Mainz.
In an interview with TRT, her father Mohamed talked about the threats his family have received daily for being Palestinian, as well as the unique trauma he feels watching these events unfold. Mohamed was a newborn during the first Nakba, the massive ethnic cleaning and displacement of Palestinians in 1948. He talks about how witnessing others make the same pained and desperate migration away from their homes has made him understand the true scale of his mother’s strength and sacrifice.
